Perturbed with the poor response to the notification on installing rain water harvesting systems in commercial and industrial units, the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) has extended the deadline from November 2003 to 30th June 2004. It has also made it clear that the deadline would not be extended any further and offenders would be prosecuted for non-compliance. However, the order does not cover residential properties in HUDA sectors as they are governed by HUDA bylaws. HUDA had made it mandatory for owners of plots measuring 100 meters or more to install a rain water harvesting system to qualify for a completion certificate.
