Chennai can look forward to a comfortable drinking water supply position the coming year, thanks to rising water levels in the city reservoirs. The reservoirs have been receiving good inflow for few days now with rain in the catchment areas. Poondi reservoir, the receiving point of Kandaleru water from Andhra Pradesh, recorded 863 cubic feet per second of water (cusecs) on Friday and 400 cusecs on the next two days. Almost half the amount of water that flowed into the reservoir was from the catchment areas till Saturday due to good showers, including 32mm of rainfall on Thursday and 6 mm on Saturday.
