The two cloned heifers had their first birthday Monday at a livestock research center in Oshimizumachi, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Noto and Kaga, both female, have matured, and now weigh more than 200 kilograms. A year ago, their premature birth marked the first time the world had seen cloned offspring from the somatic cells of an adult cow.
