Pending enactment of a Biodiversity Conservation Act, the Centre is promoting a code of conduct for users of biological resources to ensure their sustainable extraction and equitable benefit sharing.This would be in keeping with the spirit of the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD), to which India is a party, the Ministry of Environment and Forests said in its first national report on bio-diversity.
