The Union Cabinet on Wednesday evening cleared issuance of central counter-guarantee for the 1,000 MW Cogentrix power project in Karnataka. With the approval, the jinxed power project is likely to take off as Mangalore Power Company, where both Cogentrix and China Light and Power company are stock holders, announced recently that it will review the pullout decision once it receives federal guarantee for the project.
