After several rounds of debates and much delay, the Parliamentary Standing Committee has finally approved the Biological Diversity Bill, 2000, making a few "principal changes" in the original draft. With the new set of recommendations, the Bill was laid in both the Houses today. Reactions of environmentalists to the new suggestions and the timing of Parliamentary debate are now awaited with much anxiety.
