Conservation body concerned over oil, gas exploration in Kirthar National Park

"For over two years, we have tried to work co-operatively with the authorities and companies involved in the issue of exploration for oil and gas in the Kirthar National Park (KNP), but they have just ignored our efforts to agree on reasonable measures to safeguard Pakistan's priceless national heritage from the type of environmental destruction carried out by the oil companies in many other parts of the world". These observations were made by Ali Hassan Habib, Director General World Wide Foundation for Nature (WWF), in response to the reports that the Sindh government would shortly be issuing an NOC so that an oil company can go ahead with the exploration and production of oil and gas in the KNP.
