Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan agreed on Thursday to speed up work on a stalled gas pipeline project and asked the Centgas consortium to find a project leader to replace US oil firm Unocal. The three countries have agreed to overcome "expeditiously" all problems related to building the $1.9 billion 1,400-km (900-mile) pipeline from Turkmenistan's Daulatabad gas fields to Multan, Petroleum minister Nisar Ali Khan said.
