Khartoum - Constitutional and structural reforms will be undertaken by the Ministry of Health in the coming phase to strengthen the health environment and food control departments in all the state facilities. Minister of Health Bahar Idriss Abu Garda praised the health environmental and food control staff in the centre and states. Abu-Garda , during the annual meeting of health environment and foods control states directors; confirmed the ministry’s concern about health and food control, adding that environmental sanitation and good food quality contribute to human health and fighting diseases. Abu-Garda announced honouring all the staff in the food control field for maintaining the safety of Sudan’s citizens and preventing any trading of adulterated food. He warned against any encroachment on the Ministry of Health’s authorities under the name of the environment. He praised health environment staff resistance to disasters caused by floods and torrents during the rainy season. Health Environment and Food Control department Manager Dr. Salah El-Dien Al-Mubarak Al-Khalifa said Sudan achieved a new accomplishment by declaring the country free of Polio: “All the states are committed to applying health environment decisions, except Red Sea state, we call on them to join the programme,” he said. Al-Khalifa revealed that the Ministry of Health will set up 700 toilets in Primary Schools in cooperation with Ministry of Education, alongside a new project for health environment in highway roads and the stations starting from Khartoum and Gezira states. General Union of Health Officers Director called for the formation of a senior management of health environment; he praised the Ministry of Health’s efforts in health environment and food control and supporting in the country. Several papers were discussed concerning the National Plan for Health Care, activating a monitoring and investigation programme for drinking water and reports related to states performance.
