The US Government has said that a reactor on the nation's most contaminated nuclear site should remain permanently shut down.The Department of Energy (DoE) said that the Hanford test reactor in Washington State, which has remained dormant since 1992, should not be reopened for the production of medical isotopes or plutonium for space missions, as was proposed.
