The Pollution Control Board (PCB) and the city police have launched a two-pronged strategy to control sound and air pollution caused by bursting of highdecibel crackers. For the first time, both the organisations have formed special teams to check the sale of banned crackers. A massive campaign has been taken up to spread awareness among people particularly youngsters on the ill-effects of the air and sound pollution caused by the bursting of high-decibel crackers. As part of their strategy, five teams, each consisting a sub-inspector, constable and a field officer from PCB, have been constituted in five police zones to inspect cracker shops to ensure that the banned bombs are not being sold.
