CPCB to states: Harvest Rainwater

Efforts are being stepped up for the conservation of water resources. Taking new measures in this direction, the Central Pollution Control Board has asked the States to consider including provisions of rooftop systems as a condition while issuing consent and no objection certificates to industries. Pointing out that rainwater harvesting was being recognised as an effective method for conservation of "scarce freshwater resources," CPCB Chairman Dilip Biswas, in the letter to chairmen of all state pollution control committees to take stock of the measures in this regard.
