The length of the crack in a stainless steel pipe that leaked radioactive cooling water at a nuclear power station operated by, Japan Atomic Power Co. (Genden) in Tsuruga, Fukui Prefecture, was actually 9.9 centimeters, the operator said Saturday. Close examination of the pipe at the No. 2 reactor of Genden's Tsuruga nuclear power station revealed that the initial estimate of the crack's length at eight centimeters was incorrect.
