Crucial biodiversity bill not yet completely drafted

The tabling of the crucial biodiversity bill in Parliament, which seeks to give local communities sovereign rights over their forests, is unlikely to happen soon as the process of drafting is not complete. "The government is in the process of finalising the biodiversity bill and it has invited suggestions from the concerned groups on a draft bill," said the Union Minister for Environment and Forests, Mr. Suresh Prabhu, here on Friday, an official release stated.
