Atomic Energy Commission chairman and Department of Atomic Energy secretary Dr R Chidambaram said that the major mandate of the Department of Atomic Energy is the production of nuclear power and in this area the current nuclear power plants have been giving reliable performance with capacity factors of more than 70 per cent.
