Daylight-saving bill planned

  • 28/02/1999

Upper house members from several parties in Japan decided to submit to the current Diet session a bill to introduce daylight-saving time in Japan in April 2001. The lawmakers from the Liberal Democratic Party, the Democratic Pary of Japan, the Social Democratic Party and others believe the proposal will draw support from all parties because such a law would help cut greenhouse gas emissions. Another reason cited was the fact that daylight-saving time is already in effect in nearly all other industrialized nations.
