A World Bank report says Delhi will be a dust brawl by 2010. A limited water supply from the Yamuna, depleting ground water levels and a fast growing population have ensured that the supply never meets demand. Delhiites will have to face an acute water crisis during the summer. Speaking to The Pioneer, Delhi Jal Board's Chief Executive Officer P K Tripathi admitted that the citizens would have to face an acute water shortage during the summer. "The gap between demand and supply of water is about 200 million gallon per day (MGD) due to high demand and water loss. The city needs 850 MGD water, but the supply is restricted to about 650 MGD. To improve the water supply, DJB has decided to improve the water management and distribution system."
