The process of cutting trees in the Neriya Reserve Forest to lay the HPCL pipeline has started and hundreds have already been felled in the area, according to the initial reports. The Anti-HPCL Pipeline Committee, Dakshina Kannada Parisarasakta Okkoota, Nagarika Seva Trust and Mahila Vedike have decided to a stage a protest on January 13 near Kolodi against the HPCL work, describing it as "anti-environment, anti-life and anti-law."
