Dodital is situated at a distance of 31 km from Uttarkashi, and is a popular spot for trekking. It is also one of the loveliest lakes in Uttaranchal from which Asi Ganga originates. To protect the existence of the Rainbow trout, angling has been strictly forbidden here. It is especially sought-after for educational tours among residential schools in the state. The major attractions of the trek are Dodital Lake and Dayara bugyal, one of the largest meadows in the State, where the government is planning to build a huge skiing resort. Amidst reports that a littering problem was cropping up at Dodital, the forest department took several measures to protect the environment as well as promote tourism. Non-biodegradable waste was collected from Dodital, Manjhi and Agora. According to reports, it is now being collected along the trail on a regular basis. Garbage bins have also been installed at various places in Bebhra. The forest department has spent around Rs eight lakh to repair the trekking route between Sangam Chatti to Bebhra and to build a bridge at Bebhra.
