The BJP government will ask experts to review the draft national population policy which has been awaiting a final approval for the last five years. After considerable debate and several modifications, the draft population policy was approved by the cabinet last year. However, it could bot be tabled in parliament as both Houses were adjourned and Lok Sabha was subsequently dissolved. The draft policy was prepared by a group led by M S Swaminathan in 1993.
