The Dutch Environment Ministry yesterday recalled 4,500 bicycle saddlebags which it had given its employees for Christmas after discovering they contained excessive amounts of the toxic metal cadmium. "The bags contain higher amounts of cadmium than is allowed under the law on environmentally hazardous substances," the ministry said.
