DVB privatisation to cost Rs 850 cr

The Delhi Vidyut Board is going to be privatised but at a price. The Delhi Electricity Reformms Ordinance, 2000, was promulgated today, as reported in The Statesman, with the privatisation of DVB slated to cost the exchequer a whopping Rs 850 crore. The Delhi government will have to pay Rs 1.20 crore per month to DVB employees once the board is corporatised and contribute Rs 450 crore to establishe a corpus fund for safeguarding employees retirement benefits and pernsions.
