EBRD extends work to help close Chernobyl by 2000

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) said it was extending its work on decommissioning the Chernobyl nuclear plant to allow it to close by 2000. The bank said it was extending its Nuclear Safety Account (NSA), which seeks to improve safety and promote energy reform in the former communist bloc, by three years and would concentrate on Chernobyl in Ukraine.
