A safe and eco-friendly mosquito coil using only plant-based materials, has been developed by the Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore, as an alternative to the synthetic pesticide-based products available in the market. The synthetic compounds used in mosquito repellent formulations cause headaches, nausea and other side effects. In the new repellent coil uses ingredients such as binders/adjuvents and smouldering agents are from plants with known medicianal properties.
