Every possible effort is being undertaken to make the State self-reliant in power generation. Giving top priority to feeder separation and completion of new thermal power projects, important targets have been fixed to complete works within time-limit. A target has been fixed to start power generation in two extension units of 250 MW of Satpura thermal power plant at Sarni in August and November this year. Besides, a proposal is also under consideration to replace five old 62.5 MW units of Sarni plant with a new unit of 660 MW.
Similarly, the work of 1,200 MW Singaji thermal power project at village Dongliya in Khandwa district is also progressing at a rapid pace. Unit no 1 of this project is expected to start generation from December this year, the unit no 2 from March 2, 2013. Madhya Pradesh Power Generation Company has also established a joint sector company with BHEL for setting up 1,600 MW Dada Dhooniwale Khandwa Power Limited.
New records have been created by the thermal and hydel power plants of the Madhya Pradesh Power Generating Company during the current fiscal year. The thermal power plants generated 2,621 MW power on December 23, which is maximum power generation so far.
The unit no 5 of 210 MW capacities of Amarkantak thermal power plant at Chachai created the record of 100.84 PLF in October 2011. The same unit had generated power in the months of September and October last year without consumption of oil. The Company’s thermal power plants generated a record 57.46 million units on December 31, 2011.
The hydel power projects of the company also generated more power than the norms fixed by the Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regularity Commission during the current financial year. Upto December month of the current fiscal, thermal and hydel power projects of the company have generated 1,294.71 million units of power.
