The Pakistan government has decided to increase power generation from Tarbela Dam by around 960 MW through installation of a new power plant. With this, total installed generation capacity of Tarbela would go up to 4,438 MW, or around 76 per cent of total hydel power generation, official sources told Dawn. It would be ensured that the project is commissioned before 2008, they added.
