The electricity industry in UK wants power companies to collect up to 100m pounds from households to fund a scheme to aid disadvantaged electricity users. The idea for a 4 pounds a year levy on households was put to John Battle, the energy minister, and Geoffrey Robinson, the paymaster general, two weeks ago before the publication of the trade department's green paper on utilities regulation, this month.
