Encroachers evicted from Panidihing Reserve Forest

SIVASAGAR: The Panidihing Reserve Forest which spread over 33.9 Sq km in Demow Circle of Sivasagar District was illegally occupied by the encroachers like cow and buffalo rearers and fishermen since late 1970’s. After long reports of complaint for more than three decades by nature lovers and concerned citizens, the Sivasagar Forest Department personnel following the directives of the Divisional Forest Officer, Ranjan Das in association with Demow police officer, Mobid Ali and his team raided and evicted the unauthorized occupations at the reserve forest on Sunday. Encroachers for long time have been damaging ecology of the reserve forest which includes the only Bird Sanctuary of the district since 1996. The Sivasagar district Nature’s Bacon and other nature lovers appreciated the effort of the forest department.
