Save for better future : China can guarantee its energy security and achieve sustainable development during the 21st century by conserving energy and using clean coal technologies. If current energy consumption and production trends continue, China is expected to consume 6 billion tons of coal-equivalents by 2050, almost sixtimes of that of 1990, according to Fan Weitang, director of the Energy and Mining Engineering Department of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
