Energy consumption in the industrial sectors declined to 6.62 million tons of oil equivalent (TOE) in September from 6.63 million TOE during the same month last year, an Industry, Commerce and Energy Ministry report said yesterday. The drop can be attributed to the operation rate of manufacturers in September, which slid to 78 percent from 79 percent over the same month a year ago, the ministry explained. For the first nine months this year, rising oil prices caused gasoline use to slip to 47 million barrels from 49 million barrels during the same period last year. In September, gasoline consumption fell to 13 percent, compared to the same month last year.
