Energy efficiency steps in more Haryana areas

CHANDIGARH: Energy efficiency measures will be implemented in six more municipal council areas of Haryana through the Energy Service Company route, State Chief Secretary Urvashi Gulati said on Tuesday after presiding over a meeting of the State level monitoring committee for implementation of energy conservation measures and Energy Conservation Act-2001.
She disclosed that the ESCO projects had yielded encouraging results in Hisar and HUDA sectors of Panchkula. Now Yamunanagar, Palwal, Bhiwani, Karnal, Jagadhri and the Municipal Council area of Panchkula would also be covered.
Earlier, National Coordinator for the Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Union Ministry of Power Jiwesh Nanadan, said the Bureau would provide Rs.2 crore as matching grant for creation of State Energy Conservation Fund.
The Bureau had identified a potential of saving 3.2 billion units of electricity annually in Haryana.
