Energy tax will hit wider range of businesses, says research

The UK government's planned levy on energy use will have a damaging impact on a much wider range of businesses than thought, including pubs and small manufacturers. Research being carried out by the Confederation of British Industry, the employers' lobby, suggests there will be many big losers outside the 10 groups of heavy energy users with which the government is negotiating special deals to offest the tax.
