Even as Enron comes under fire in the Maharashtra legislature for its prohibitively high tariff, the multinational is on its toes: it has launched a campaign to justify its tariff structure, is in a running battle with the Maharashtra State Electricity Board on payment delays and Phase II of the project, and is also busy creating an impression in the American media that the developments will deter foreign investment in India.
