The Environment and petroleum ministries have planned a minister-level meeting to sort out the issue of fuel quality improvement in refineries. The environment ministry is of the view that urgent steps to upgrade the quality of fuel supplied by the refineries are imperative to reduce the level of toxic contents in petrol and diesel. The high levels of benzene and sulphur in petrol and diesel respectively are said to be hazardous for health.
