Environmentalists meet Cheney, see some progress

The White House and environmentalists agreed this week to seek more renewable energy sources but stayed divided on other green issues that have battered President George W. Bush's popularity. After a meeting of representatives of four major environmental organizations with Vice President Dick Cheney, both sides emerged to say that the White House had agreed to work to develop targets for increasing renewable energy use as part of a national energy policy.
