Reported to have been injured earlier, the stray tiger was again shot at by Foresters in the forests of Kumarganj tehsil of Faizabad district early on Tuesday morning. Despite the injury on the shoulder, it jumped towards a nullah and virtually disappeared within the thick foliage.
The fact whether the tiger was alive or dead, continued to be shrouded in mystery even as the Forest team failed to track the injured big cat in the woods.
The search was abandoned late in the evening. Sources, however, claimed that the Forest failed to spot even a single drop of blood after the firing incident in the forest.
On the contrary, Chief Wildlife Warden BK Patnaik claimed that the tiger had been shot.
