More than the farmers who face uncertainty over the release of Cauvery water to save standing crops, over 10 lakh landless farm labourers in the delta districts of Tamil Nadu appear to be worse off as they are concerned over their livelihood in the near absence of agricultureal operations. By this time every year, the farm workers , most of them women, in these districts will be busy in the fields. This year instead of being sought after, they say they have to go in search of employment in the fields getting water.
