Farm subsidies attacked for 'causing hunger'

Indian farm subsidies, intended to guarantee food security, have become a machine to ensure wide spread hunger, according to India's two most distinguished development economists. Jean Dreze, professor at the Delhi School of Economics and Amartya Sen, the Nobel laureate and Master of Trinity College, Cambridge, this week separately took aim at the food subsidy system.
