Farmers should be provided adequate and quality

Proposals will be sent to the state government for giving compensation for 17 thousand quintals of soyabean seeds lying stocked with seed production cooperative societies. This decision was taken at a meeting of Board of Directors of Seed Production and Marketing Federation which was chaired by Cooperative Minister Shri Gaurishankar Bisen. Those present at the meeting included Principal Secretary Agriculture and Cooperatives Shri Madan Mohan Upadhyaya, Commissioner Cooperatives Shri Arun Pandey, Managing Director Apex Bank Shri Sushil Mishra, Additional Commissioner Cooperatives Shri Anil Sharma, Joint Commissioner Shri Arvind Sengar and managing director of Seed Federation Shri B.S. Vaskale.

Cooperative Minister Shri Bisen instructed to constitute Seed Production Cooperative Societies in rest of 78 development blocks by September 30 with a view to providing adequate and quality seeds to farmers. He said that it should be ensured that farmers get adequate quantity of seeds in time during the rabi season. A resolution was adopted at the meeting in which it was expected from the government that it will give compensation to the seeds committees for 17 thousands of soyabean seeds lying with them so that there is no financial burden on them and they are saved from being shut down.
At the meeting, 56 new seed production committees became members of the Federation. Out of these, 2 each committees are in operation in Hoshangabad, Raisen, Tikamgarh, Vidisha and Shajapur, 10 in Harda, 6 each in Chhatarpur and Damoh, 4 each in Ratlam, Sagar and Sehore and one each in Gwalior, Indore, Barwani, Dewas, Bhind, Khargone, Guna, Narsinghpur and Ujjain. With this, the number of seed production committees in the state has gone up to 371. These committees produce about 8 lakh tonnes of certified seeds during every kharif and rabi season.
