Prime Minister Manmohan Singh expressed the hope that the acceleration of economic reforms would lead to fast-paced development during the next four to five years and enable India to attain its rightful place in the world. Addressing a public meeting here after dedicating to the nation the six-lane Jaipur-Kishangarh expressway, built as part of the Golden Quadrilateral Project, Dr. Singh said the country would progress "very fast over the next four-five years" and soon join the comity of developed nations. "The dream of getting rid of poverty and unemployment can be realised if we accelerate and strengthen economic reforms," he said. The Prime Minister said the strength of India's parliamentary democracy should be reflected in infrastructure, with the steps taken to meet people's demand for world-class ports, railways, roads, airports and telecommunication.
