Financier takes a shine to a solar company

Jeremy Leggett, former chairman of a British government taskforce promoting solar energy, has been promised $9m from Stefan Schmidheiny, an industrialist and philanthropist and one of the world's richest men. Increased use of solar materials, which transform radiation from the sun into electricity, fits in with plans published this month by the European Commission, executive arm of the European Union.
