Fire at Hanford nuclear site raises fear of contamination

A wildfire raged today across atleast 190,000 arid acres on and around the U.S. Hanford Nuclear Reservation and burned across three radioactive waste sites. No radiation releases had been detected by state or federal air-monitoring devices, Julie Erickson, a Department of Energy spokeswoman, said at an afternoon news briefing.
