Firms buy into biomass technology

Marubenl corp. and Tsukishima Kikal Co. plan to jointly build and sell biomass plant facilities in Japan and Southeast Asia using U.S. technology,The Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported. The firms have obtained from U.S. venture company BC International Corp. the exclusive right to use and sell the start-up's biomass technology, which produces alcohol from straw and other plant wastes at low cost using genetically modified technology.
