First biomass-based power unit by IPP inaugurated

The country's first biomass-based independent power plant, that runs on ricehusk was inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Mr. Digvijay Singh, recently. Located in Rajpur district, the plant will consume about seven tonnes of rice husk an hour to produce steam that will be used to generate 6 MW of power. The entire power would be exported to the grid of Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board, said a press release.
