The second of India's eight 'fast track'power projects began to produce power in Andhra Pradesh after being mired in controversy and procedural wrangles for five years. The 208 MW gas-based project in the eastern coatal town of Kakinada is promoted by New York-based non-resident Indian-owned Spectrum Technologies and the Hyderabad-based Jaya Foods and has the National Thermal Power Corporation and Rolls Royce as partners.
