Fresh avenues are opening up for entrepreneurs in India as technology is made available to convert thousands of acres of fly ash dumping grounds to rolling greens. Nowhere in the world has it ever been demonstrated that one can actually grow gladiolus and tuberoses, carnations and lilinum, and a variety of tree species in fly ash ponds, in the process changing the properties of fly ash dramatically, positively. The Tata Energy Research Institute(TERI), New Delhi, has recently worked out the tentative economics of the whole project.
