Minister : The public Works Minister, Mr Duraj Murugan, today charged that the Forest department had been sitting over various reservoir projects. Contending that the Forest authorities were not allowing PWD officials to enter the forest areas for preliminary assessment as some of the projects envisaged submergence of certain forest areas, Mr Durai Murugan said it was justifiable on the part of the Forest department to get concerned over the preservation of the wildlife."But, they (the forest oficials) should also realise that these projects have been proposed for irrigation and domestic consumption", the Minister pointed out after declaring open a building at the Institute of Water Studies (IWS), Taramani, to house a library, a computer centre and a lecture hall.
