France and Germany in dispute on nuclear decision

A bitter dispute erupted between France and Germany over the Bonn government's decision to phase out nuclear power without spelling out compensation terms for foreign waste processing companies. The move - largely driven by the Green party in the Bonn coalition government has also angered Britain, which is worried about the impact on British Nuclear Fuel's Thorp reprocessing plant in north-west England.
