France makes pledge for Lithuanian nuke closure

France pledged yesterday to donate 1.5 million euros ($1.33 million) for the closure of the first unit of Lithuania's Ignalina nuclear plant, the Lithuanian government said yesterday. The government's press office said in a statement the French offering to the Ignalina decommissioning support fund brings the pledge total from Western donors to 215 million euros ($189.9 million).
