Hundreds of villagers were hurriedly evacuated after a massive emission of gas from an exploratory well in southern Pakistan, officials and residents said today. The gas leakage from the well, dug by the state-run Oil and Gas Development Corporation, affected a string of villages near Shahdadpur town, some 180 km north-east of Karachi.
